P-Connect boosts its potential: now available also with EtherCAT® protocol and a new configuration

The P-Connect connection gateway introduces two new features that broaden its scope of application in the industrial-automation sector.

Now compatible with the EtherCAT® / Safety over EtherCAT® protocol and featuring a new configuration option, P-Connect reinforces its position as a comprehensive and flexible solution, particularly well-suited for applications in complex systems where secure communication and functional safety are essential requirements.

New version with EtherCAT®/Safety over EtherCAT® protocol

The P-Connect connection gateway is now compatible with the EtherCAT® - Safety over EtherCAT® protocol, in addition to the two existing options, completing the set of globally applicable connection protocols.

This version enables connection of up to six Pizzato safety devices to an EtherCAT® network, thus enabling a significant reduction in wiring operations for large-scale machinery.

Thanks to the Safety over EtherCAT® communication protocol, the gateway can securely transmit safety-related signals to the PLC, guaranteeing maximum safety levels SIL3 / PLe / Category 4.

Dedicated on-site diagnostics for the version with EtherCAT®

This version of P-Connect also features five integrated diagnostic signalling LEDs, for quick and easy identification of system state and any anomalies:

  • SYSTEM STATE” - multicolour signalling showing the different device operating states and any warnings or errors
  • L/A EC IN/OUT” - LED indicating the state and speed of the two EtherCAT® ports
  • RUN” and “ERROR” - signalling information on the operating state and errors of the EtherCAT® network

New input configuration BP A1•L2004

A new configuration is now available, compatible with all communication protocols supported by the P-Connect gateway — PROFINET/PROFIsafe, EtherNet/IP™/CIP Safety™ and EtherCAT®/Safety over EtherCAT®.

This new option enables series connection of up to six NG, NS, NX or ST series interlocks and up to four BN series control device units, offering significant flexibility in the architecture of integrated safety systems.

It is an ideal solution for applications demanding a high number of safety devices in an optimised space, simplifying installation and reducing complexity.
