Coded protective covers for screws of switches and actuators

For some time now, the non-removable screw covers of the VF PC series have been part of the Pizzato product line. They have now been expanded with a new version that improves protection against tampering.

A quick comparison

Standard plastic protective covers for screws

The standard plastic protective covers for screws included with the Pizzato safety devices are designed so that they cover the fastening screws and can no longer be removed once attached. EN ISO 14119 requires that the fixing systems of safety devices cannot be easily removed from the guards themselves.

An attempt to remove the protective cover results in the physical destruction of or damage to the cover and, in any case, leaves a clear sign of tampering.

New version of the non-removable screw covers

With the new version of the non-removable screw covers, every single cover is provided with a different alphanumeric code. When attaching the coded covers to the fastening screws of a product, this results in a different code being created every time.
If a cover is removed and a new one attached, the code created by the new combination of the two covers is not the same as the previous combination and is, thus, evidence that tampering occurred.
The new coded protective covers are available as accessories and can be used as replacement for standard screw covers.

Coding with alphanumeric characters

Located on every protective cover is a code that consists of a sequence of three alphanumeric characters, whereby each character can take on one of 32 different values. Because a single cover has a code with a total of 32,768 possible combinations, attaching two protective covers results in a code with more than a billion combinations.
